Cases of Candida auris fungus, better known as C auris, have skyrocketed in recent months, raising fears of another killer disease.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has already called the disease an "urgent threat" in 2019, but statistics show that cases have increased over the past four years.

A new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that the number of cases across the United States more than tripled between 2020 and 2021.

The death rate from the fungus is believed to be 60 percent of those infected.
