The patient, Danella Gallegos, was hospitalized in serious condition. After receiving emergency medical care, she fell into a coma, and doctors concluded that her condition was hopeless. Her family, not expecting a recovery, decided to allow the use of her organs for transplantation to other patients in need.
The preparation process for the surgery was carried out with the participation of the New Mexico State Donor Service. However, when all the preparations were completed, Danella's loved ones noticed an unusual phenomenon - tears appeared on her face. The medical staff initially attributed this to a reflex reaction.
On the day when the operation to remove the organs was scheduled, Danella's sister noticed that the patient began to move. Soon after, Danella began to consciously blink in response to the doctors' requests.
Despite pressure from the donor coordinator, who insisted on performing the surgery, the doctors decided to postpone the procedure and urgently transported the girl from the operating room. This decision saved Danella's life. She is currently undergoing a course of rehabilitation and is gradually returning to normal life.
