Ryder stressed that the government has spotted and is tracking an observation balloon at a high altitude, which flew over the continental United States. The balloon is currently traveling at an altitude well above a military or physical threat to people.
The official added that the Pentagon is confident that the object belongs to China. The balloon has also been reported to President Joe Biden and there is no decision yet to shoot down the object.
