EU extends sanctions against Russia for use of chemical weapons for year

Sanctions against Russia on chemical weapons will be valid for another year. The Council of the European Union decided so at its meeting on October 12.

Thus, restrictive measures, including the incident with the Skripal, will be applied until October 16 next year.

Sanctions relate to nine people, four of them are associated with poisoning in Salisbury, including Boshirov and Petrov. Five more people on the sanctions list were punished for chemical attacks in Syria.

Some states proposed expanding this list to include people responsible for the incident with Alexei Navalny.

The meeting participants made the decision to extend the sanctions without discussing.
