The Belarusian leader made such a statement during a meeting with Metropolit Minsky and Zaslavsky Veniamin.
"Muslims have never created problems for us. I often say that in all elections almost 100% of Muslims supported the government and me as president," Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader emphasized that he would never allow the statements recently made by French President Emmanuel Macron about freedom of speech and religious feelings.
"Maybe he just needs mediation between him and the Muslims. I can help him with it because I have very good relations with Muslims," Lukashenko said.
According to the Belarusian president, "it is categorically unacceptable to interfere in the feelings of believers."
We remind, on October 16, a teacher was beheaded in a suburb of France, who showed students the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, which were published by Charlie Hebdo magazine five years ago. After that, the French president said that the authorities would actively fight the carriers of radical ideology and the associations they created, and would not ban caricatures. This caused protests in a number of states in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Protesters chanted slogans in defense of Islam and called French President Emmanuel Macron "the enemy of Allah." Demonstrators burned French flags, tore and trampled portraits of Macron.
