A search operation has been launched in the waters of Terpeniya Bay off the coast of Sakhalin. 40-year-old Alexander Zykov set out on a two-seater rubber boat on October 15 to check fishing nets and has not been contacted since.
The day before, State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (GIMS) inspectors searched the coastal area within a 10-kilometer radius but found no trace of the missing man.
On the morning of October 17, aviation joined the search: an Mi-8 helicopter from the Khabarovsk Aviation Rescue Center with three rescuers on board took off to conduct aerial reconnaissance. Meanwhile, State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (GIMS) officers continue to comb the waters in a motorboat.
Searchers have a detailed description of the fisherman's appearance: he is 170 cm tall, has very short hair, a bump on his forehead, and metal front teeth.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a light-colored camouflage suit, a black hat, and green fishing boots. He had a radio and a headlamp with him.
