United States news broadcasters have broadcast live a meeting of the U.S. Senate, which voted to pass a bill to repeal the resolution on the use of military force in Iraq.

By a majority vote, the Senate repealed the U.S. administration's right to use the country's armed forces to conduct military operations in Iraq. There were 66 votes in favor of the proposed bill, with another 30 against it.

Earlier, the U.S. authorities had assured that the change in the laws would not affect the state of military bases on the territory of the Iraqi state, and would strengthen ties with partners in Iraq.
