The Rothschild Foundation has announced the death of British businessman and one of the world's richest men, Jacob Rothschild.
He was 87 years old. The cause of death was not reported.
"The Rothschild Foundation and the Waddesdon Estate are deeply saddened to announce the death of Lord Rothschild, businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist and cultural leader," the foundation said in a post on social media X.
Jacob Rothschild began his career in the family business in 1963. In 2002, he was awarded the British Order of Merit.
The Rothschilds are the richest and most influential family in the world.
