A bottlenose dolphin named Reggie has scared holidaymakers in Lyme Bay off the coast of Dorset, UK. Since February, he had been regularly appearing in these waters and even became a local celebrity. People happily shared his photos on social networks.
Suddenly, the local public's favorite, who had previously swum peacefully next to people and even took part in swims, began to show aggression.
On August 21, the situation took a dangerous turn when the dolphin deliberately attacked two women in wetsuits. According to eyewitnesses, the animal was not just playing, but was clearly trying to jump on the swimmers and pull them under the water. They needed the help of men, who intervened in time and prevented a tragedy. "When we realised he wasn't gambling it was a big shock. People need to understand this isn't a gambling arcade. This is a wild animal. He can go crazy if he wants to," said kayaker Rhys Patterson, who took part in the rescue. Locals believe the dolphin's behaviour may have been influenced by a recent injury he received from a boat propeller.
It was previously reported that 140 people were arrested at the Notting Hill Carnival. 15 of the arrests were related to attacks on law enforcement officers.
