Riots broke out in Saggart, South Dublin, Ireland, near a center housing asylum seekers. Police arrested six people.
According to the Irish Times, a man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl outside the center. The suspect arrived in Ireland six years ago, was rejected for international protection in 2024, but remained in the country.
Protesters gathered on the evening of Tuesday, October 21, outside a former hotel now used by the state to house asylum seekers.
During the unrest, one law enforcement officer received medical treatment for a leg injury.
Up to a thousand people participated in the large-scale protest. Demonstrators set fire to a police van and launched fireworks at the police.
Earlier, the head of the French Ministry of Culture denied rumors of a security malfunction at the Louvre.
