The department notes that this figure will only increase, and moreover strongly.
The department expects that this year the size of the U.S. budget deficit will increase to $1.9 trillion, and in ten years, by 2034, this figure will reach $2.8 trillion.
The experts' calculations indicate that the budget deficit this year will increase by 27 percent from February projections, and the total deficit for 2025-2034 will increase by 10 percent.
The paper reports that much of the increase in the gap between government spending and revenues is due to new laws, including $95 billion in "emergency supplemental appropriations" to help Ukraine.
