Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel was spotted on a regular Eurowings plane. She flew on vacation with her husband in economy class. Previously, she had used a government-owned airliner, notes the German edition of Bild.
Merkel, 68, and her husband Joachim Sauer went on vacation to the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura. They were escorted to the flight by her security service. Merkel also distinguished herself by being the first to be allowed to land.
It should be noted, retired Angela Merkel has a right to protection at the expense of the state, but her private trips she has to pay for herself. The publication notes that the former chancellor decided to save on tickets by choosing the cheapest seats on the flight.
