Mega-earthquake threat off US and Canada coasts

Seismologists warn: Cascade zone braces for powerful earthquake and tsunami

New research on the Cascade Subduction Zone, one of the planet’s most dangerous tectonic faults, has found signs that a major seismic event is brewing. According to underwater imaging, three centuries of accumulated stress on the 970-kilometer-long fault (from Vancouver Island to Northern California) could be released in the form of an earthquake of magnitude 8.7 to 9.2, a tsunami with waves as high as a 10-story building, and a 10 to 20-meter shift in the coastline.

Seismologists have found alarming signs of increasing activity in the Cascade Subduction Zone, a 970 km-long fault line from Canada to California. New data indicate a high probability of a catastrophic earthquake of up to magnitude 9.0, followed by a tsunami up to 30 meters high, which could affect the coast of the United States and Canada. Scientists recall that the last such event occurred in 1700, and geological cycles suggest a repeat of such a catastrophe every 400-600 years.

Earlier, it was reported that the suspect in the armed attack on the campus of Emory University (Georgia) repeatedly stated that the COVID-19 vaccine was the cause of his physical and mental problems, law enforcement sources report. According to investigators, the man suffered from severe depression and associated the deterioration of his condition with the consequences of the vaccination. The incident again raised questions about mental health care for people with post-vaccination complications and gun control. In addition, a 16-year-old teenager who was planning a terrorist attack on a mosque was arrested in Britain.
