The Danish government intends to ban social media use for children under 15.
According to AFP, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced the initiative during her speech to parliament. However, she did not specify which social media platforms would be affected.
The Danish prime minister believes that smartphones and social media are robbing children of their childhood.
Frederiksen added that, according to statistics, 60% of Danish boys aged 11 to 19 prefer to spend time at home rather than meet with friends.
The initiative states that children aged 13 and older will be able to use social media, but only with parental permission.
Earlier, the State Duma considered the possibility of banning social media for children.
