According to a statement published in the agency's Telegram channel, Armenia, adhering to the key principles of the SCO, such as respect for territorial integrity, renunciation of the use of force and inviolability of state borders, has expressed its intention to obtain membership in the organization.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, founded in 2001, unites ten states: Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Iran and Belarus (from 2024). A summit of the heads of the SCO member states is scheduled to be held in China in late summer - early fall 2025.
