Study: Every second Russian is afraid of getting sick while vacationing abroad

According to a survey conducted among Russians by the AlfaStrakhovanie analytical center, every second resident of the country is afraid of falling ill while on vacation abroad. At the same time, every fourth is afraid of becoming a victim of a crime, losing documents or not being able to return home.

Also of those surveyed, 37% are worried about the quality of medical care in other countries. 13% are concerned about the possibility of getting into a traffic accident or other emergency situation, which may require medical assistance, and not all local facilities will be able to provide proper treatment. 9% of Russians choose places with developed medical infrastructures in advance to feel more confident during their vacations.

Also, a significant part of respondents (29%) fear getting lost in unfamiliar places. 16% add that they experience this fear due to insufficient knowledge of foreign languages, which can complicate the return home. 22% of respondents prefer to choose tried and tested routes, while 11% choose the same places every year because of their fears. 8% prefer organized tours to avoid the stresses associated with independent planning.

14% of Russians worry that vacations may cost more than planned and they will not be able to provide themselves with the necessary funds. Another 12% worry about possible transportation problems, such as flight cancellations, delayed transfers or traffic jams, which could result in missing their flight.

In addition, 7% of respondents at least once refused to travel because of these and other fears, including fears related to the pandemic, reports Gazeta.Ru.

Earlier, experts told what waves should be feared during a vacation at sea. Also on the eve it became known where residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg plan to spend their vacation in spring.
