A travel expert assessed the situation with Russians stuck in Kathmandu

Expert Golov: Tourists in Nepal better stay in hotels during protests

Mass protests in Nepal have made it difficult for foreign citizens, including Russians, to travel. Sergei Golov, president of the Union of Travel Agencies and member of the tourism coordinating council at the Russian Public Chamber, said that most of the Russians in the country are climbers and athletes heading to Everest.

According to him, such travelers are highly self-organized and capable of acting in extreme conditions.

At the same time, the Russian embassy in Kathmandu continues to operate, where a hotline is available to help citizens in emergency situations. Despite interruptions in the work of messengers, it is still possible to contact by phone.

Sergey Golov noted on the air of Radio KP that the number of Russian tourists in Nepal is limited, since there are few tour operators offering routes to this country. He emphasized that travelers are usually aware of the specifics of the region and are ready for risks.

The expert also recommended that Russians refrain from visiting places of mass gatherings of people, since it is onlookers who often find themselves at risk during riots. To ensure safety, tourists are advised to stay in hotels, which will allow them to quickly establish contact if necessary.

Earlier it became known after visiting which countries a tourist may be denied entry.

Also, the most expensive tour in Russia this summer was a trip to Lake Baikal for 4.3 million rubles.
