A new law on immigration and foreign nationals has come into force in India. It has been in force since April 4.

The law presupposes serious liability for offending tourists. Thus, exceeding the period of stay in India and staying in the country without valid documents is now punishable by a prison term of up to three years and a fine of up to 300 thousand rupees.

The rules for entering India without a valid passport and visa have been tightened. Violators face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to 500 thousand rupees. Attempting to forge identity and entry documents is also banned.

In hotels and other accommodation facilities, you need to give only your name as per the document. The Indian authorities have banned the use of any options that are different from those written in the passport.

Earlier it was reported that Russians began to book more often hotels in Abkhazia and Qatar for May holidays.
