The International Paralympic Committee General Assembly decided to allow the Russian team to compete next year with its national flag and anthem—these attributes will return for the first time since 2014.

At the IPC General Assembly meeting in Seoul on September 26-27, the majority of participants voted against a full suspension of membership and an extension of partial restrictions.

"This is an important contribution to the development of the international Paralympic movement and an example of how athletes' rights must be protected without discrimination based on nationality or political affiliation," the Russian Paralympic Committee commented on the decision.

They added that the IPC acknowledged the Russian Committee's fulfillment of its membership obligations, as outlined in the organization's Charter.

For now, the Russian team is participating in the World Athletics Championships in New Delhi as a neutral team, competing only in the individual event.

The Russians performed well at the 2024 Paris Paralympics: swimmer Vladimir Danilenko brought the team its first gold, and other medals followed, but not everything was easy for the Russians at these competitions.
