Russian tennis player Pavel Kotov yelled at his mother during a qualifying match of the Masters series in Madrid. Catching the ball during the game against the Belgian Kimmer Koppeyans, Kotov could not restrain himself and rudely asked his mother, who was on the podium, not to interfere with him.
Commenting on this moment after the match, Kotov stated:
"If you're that interested, I apologized to my mom as soon as I left the court.".
The athlete noted that during a difficult, tense match, he could not restrain his emotions. He admitted that he set a bad example by such behavior and wished everyone well, to control himself and not repeat such a thing.
