The incident occurred early in the second period of Tuesday's game. It took the referees a few minutes to resolve the situation, after which play resumed. Following the investigation, the referees decided not to impose penalties on the players.
Dynamo-Neva player Ksenia Ponomareva allegedly dropped the object onto the ice. Following the incident, a video of the incident appeared on Agidel's Telegram channel with the ironic caption: "We're not implying anything, but smoking is harmful to your opponent's health."
The game itself ultimately ended in a convincing victory for the Ufa club. Agidel defeated their opponents from St. Petersburg with a score of 4-0.
It's worth noting that similar bizarre incidents also occur in men's hockey. Earlier in January, during a Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) match, Ak Bars forward Nikita Dynyak dropped his mobile phone on the ice, which was later returned to him by a referee.
Komsomolskaya Pravda previously received the Nikolai Ozerov Medal for Sports.
