Khachanov advanced to the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Geneva after taking down Nishikori

Khachanov made it through to the ATP quarterfinals in Geneva due to Nishikori's withdrawal

Russian Karen Khachanov overcame the barrier of the 1/8 finals of the prestigious ATP 250 dirt tournament in Geneva, Switzerland, in an unusual way. His confrontation with the experienced Japanese master Kei Nishikori had to be postponed to the next match day due to heavy rain, which stopped the match with the score 7:5, 2:5 in favor of Nishikori.

Despite the losing score the day before, the fate of the match changed quite unpredictably: in the morning, the Japanese player announced his inability to continue the competition due to personal circumstances.

Thanks to this unexpected turn of events, Khachanov automatically advanced to the quarterfinals, where a new test awaits him: the winner of the duel between Austrian professional Sebastian Ofner and Portuguese talent Nuno Borges will be his opponent. This outcome added intrigue to the tournament and allowed the Russian player to avoid a tiring three-hour match, saving his strength before the important games.

Two significant events of the last days united the attention of the public. First, soccer goalkeeper Artem Yatimov was named the best goalkeeper of the Russian Cup by the FONBET bookmaker, having demonstrated outstanding ability and stability throughout the season. Then came the news of a second child, son Mikhail, with the famous Russian gymnast Alexandra Soldatova, who became world champion in 2018. Both heroes became an example of the combination of sportsmanship and personal harmony, again showing how important it is to harmonize career and family life.
