Washington Capitals forward commented on the anti-Russian statements of former goalie Dominik Hasek. Earlier, the Czech player has repeatedly expressed regrets about the position of the NHL leadership, which did not apply any sanctions against players from Russia.

I knew Hasek as a good goalie in my time and even scored for him. I have little interest in his current statements. NHL clubs choose players by skills and abilities, not by nationality," Ovechkin said in an interview with Izvestia.

At the same time, Ovechkin praised the neutral position of the NHL management towards Russian hockey players.

In turn, hockey coach Gennady Kurdin called for the exclusion of Hasek from the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, as, in his opinion, NHL players should be distinguished by exemplary behavior.
