A poll on the website of an online publication has shown that the majority of Russians believe that children should not be left unattended until the beginning of school age. 25% believe that children under 8-10 years of age should be better supervised by adults. At this age, they are not yet independent enough to walk without adults.
KP.RU writes that 26% believe that children can walk alone at the age of 10-13. At this age they become more conscious and can make independent decisions.
Every fifth parent is sure that children can walk unsupervised only from 13-15 years old. Until this age it is better to keep an eye on them, especially in big cities.
20% believe that independence comes only at the age of 16-18. At this age, children become old enough to walk independently.
However, in small towns and villages the situation may be different. 8% believe that children can walk alone from 6-7 years old, and 1% - from 4-5 years old.
“It depends on where you live. We have a small town, everyone knows each other. My child will be six soon, and he already rides a bike with a friend. He always has his cell phone. He knows where you can ride and where you can't,” says one mother.
“My older son has been walking alone in the yard since he was four. There's a playground in the yard, and I used to check on him from the window. When he wanted to go home, he would ask passersby to ring the intercom,” shares another.
“You can let him go out in the yard from the age of six or seven. Went to school - learn to be independent. Especially now there are many gadgets for control,” adds a third.
The poll was conducted on the KP.RU website in the social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, as well as in the messengers Telegram and Viber. 4.9 thousand people took part in it.
