The Writers Guild of America announced that it is ending its nearly five-month strike on September 27, having reached a tentative agreement with Hollywood studios.
On the guild's page on social network X noted that the negotiating committee and the boards of governors of the Western and Eastern branches voted unanimously in favor of the agreement.
The details of the agreement reached by the screenwriters are yet to be disclosed. However, some US media outlets wrote that the issue of the use of AI has been settled.
The Screenwriters Guild began the strike on May 2. In mid-July, it was joined by the American Federation of Television and Film Actors, which has not yet reached an agreement with the studios.
The screenwriters demanded higher wages, changes to the procedure for calculating royalties, and restrictions on the use of AI to replace their labor.
