Dmitry Osyanin, Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Control, Analysis, and Audit at the Main Control Department of the City of Moscow at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, stated that when changing management companies for one reason or another, Russians may begin to receive duplicate utility bills, as the old management company continues to send them to clients.
In an interview with the Prime agency, Osyanin explained that to avoid such situations, it's important to carefully read each item and check whether it matches the bills for the previous period. And if there are any discrepancies, demand a recalculation from the management company. If direct complaints to the management company are ineffective, it's necessary to contact the housing inspectorate or the prosecutor's office.
The expert also noted that companies can make such errors due to untimely database updates, technical errors, or by artificially dividing a service into multiple components. Sometimes, even non-existent services are included on the billing slip.
