The European Union is proposing a new, 12th package of sanctions against Russia. It will come into force on January 1 next year. Among other things, it includes a ban on Russian diamonds. It will also gradually introduce an indirect ban on imports of Russian diamonds that have been processed in third countries.
In addition, the new package of sanctions includes a ban on the export to our country of machine tools, chemicals, lithium batteries and engines for UAVs, which Russia may use in the fighting in Ukraine.
In addition, the EU is going to tighten control over Russian oil, more precisely, over its supply. Suppliers will have to have documents showing all the costs of fuel exports, such as insurance and freight. The EU fears that companies artificially inflate costs to "disguise" the real cost of Russian oil.
Also, European countries are going to prohibit some individuals and legal entities from Russia to sell tankers and used ships - so the EU wants to solve the problem with the shadow fleet, which uses ours to circumvent sanctions.
It should be noted that the European Commission will submit the 12th package of sanctions against Russia to the EU Council for approval in the near future.
