People's Artist of Russia Valery Leontyev took part in the gala concert of the international competition of young performers "New Wave" in Kazan. He sang his hits, including "Deltaplan", "Casanova", "Margarita".
In March 2024, the singer's concert director Boris Chigirev announced that Leontyev had completed his stage career. However, his participation in concerts and programs ended before the official announcement.

In April, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin and composer Igor Krutoy announced the transfer of the competition to the capital of Tatarstan.
