Following an expedition to the Anyuisky National Park in Khabarovsk Krai, entomologists discovered new inhabitants of the specially protected natural area.
As specified by the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Zapovednoye Priamurye", specialists examined more than 100 km of the park's territory. Scientists were particularly interested in moths and ground beetles, as well as weevils, carrion beetles and syrphid flies.
As a result, over 150 species of ground beetles were collected in two weeks of work, 21 of which were discovered for the first time in the national park and in the border area.
Another four species of ground beetles were spotted for the first time in Khabarovsk Krai. Among the butterflies, more than 20 species new to this protected area were identified.
The results of the study will be processed in office work and entered into the "Chronicle of Nature" and cadastral information about the protected area.
