Scientists have found that the NOX4 protein found in cauliflower protects the liver from fatty disease.

According to the Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI), levels of this protein increase in the organ when there is an early stage of fatty disease. NOX4 protects the liver, but after its levels begin to drop, so the defense is weakened.

As a result, the disease begins to progress and almost a third of patients develop a neglected form of the disease - non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, which can progress to cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Earlier, scientists found that slow-growing cancer cells are resistant to chemotherapy.
