Scientists believe that after death a person's soul goes to the afterlife. At least, this opinion is held by British physicist Roger Penrose and anesthesiologist and neuroscientist Stuart Hameroff, writes Express.

The physicist said that human consciousness in quantum form is located in special tubes in the brain. When a person dies, consciousness passes to another state, after which it merges with the universe. As a result, consciousness can exist forever.Specialists have even come up with a name for this process: "Orch-OR".

If a person can be revived, consciousness returns back to the microtubules. The scientist and doctor called this process "clinical death".

Their theory was supported by scientists from the Max Planck Society Institute for Physics. Hans-Peter Durr, who previously headed this institute, stated that the quantum field, in this case human consciousness, continues to exist even after human death. It means that the human soul is immortal.
