St. Petersburg Metro seeks contractor for additional station security

Task forces will be deployed in the St. Petersburg metro to protect stations

The contract is worth 1.5 billion rubles, and they'll be looking for a contractor over the next three weeks. The terms of the tender say they'll need mobile teams that can respond to calls 24/7.

The St. Petersburg Metro State Unitary Enterprise has published the terms of a tender for the provision of security services for metro stations and tunnels on the State Procurement website. The contractor must form operational teams that will respond immediately, around the clock, to any acts of illegal interference with the infrastructure. The contract is estimated to be worth 1.5 billion rubles, and applications will be accepted until September 18.

The total length of the St. Petersburg Metro tunnels is 128 kilometers and includes 73 stations, two of which are currently undergoing major repairs. The technical specifications state that mobile groups will have to patrol the area in search of intruders and unattended items. The response time of the group, even at night, should not exceed 15 minutes. A total of 146 facilities are listed for protection. The contract will be signed on November 1, 2025, and will last until October 31, 2027.

Earlier it was reported that the Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station in St. Petersburg will not open before early 2026.

The section of Nevsky Prospekt that was under repair has been temporarily closed to traffic.
