The new train will consist of eight cars equipped to serve passengers of different classes. The total capacity will be up to 460 people. The production of rolling stock has been entrusted to the Ural Locomotives company. It is expected that the average cost of a ticket on the High-Speed Railway will be about 10 thousand rubles.
The 679-kilometer-long main line will run through the territory of the Leningrad, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow regions, with 16 planned stops along the route. Trains will be able to reach speeds of up to 400 kilometers per hour. The line is scheduled to be put into operation in 2028, Gazeta.SPb reports.
According to Kirill Polyakov, vice-governor of St. Petersburg, realization of the project during the construction period and the next 20 years will bring to the region an increase in gross product of over 2 trillion rubles. Dozens of industrial enterprises of St. Petersburg will take part in the creation of the High-Speed Railway, which will give a new impetus to the development of transportation engineering in the region, the official noted.
Earlier the state development corporation “VEB.RF” allocated the initial tranche of 7 billion rubles for the implementation of the project of construction of a high-speed highway connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg.
At the same time in the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation predicted that a ticket on the High-Speed Railway Moscow-St. Petersburg in 2028 will cost 8.9 thousand rubles.
