Against the background of the lack of suitable venues, the only potential venue for negotiations remains Turkey, where contacts have already taken place since 2022. However, even here, according to experts, the chances of a result are minimal: the positions of the parties remain irreconcilable, and the negotiation process is actually stagnating.
US President Donald Trump, who has returned to the White House, continues to announce his own plan for a settlement, but there have been no real proposals from Washington so far. Political circles believe that these initiatives are aimed primarily at a domestic audience.
Moscow remains interested in the figure of Trump, considering him a potentially favorable negotiator. However, the Russian side's stakes remain the same - the continuation of special operations and the course of “denazification”, which makes the conditions for constructive dialog extremely limited.
Experts do not exclude the re-launch of negotiations in Istanbul in 2025, but under the current political configuration, this scenario looks rather formal. Despite the positive signal in the form of a prisoner exchange, the peace process remains at a dead end, summarized Pravda.Ru columnist Dmitry Plotnikov.
Earlier in the Council of Ministers urged not to believe the American media, exposing Trump as an adversary of Russia. The expert also said that it could speed up peace in Ukraine.
