A former Rada member of parliament explained how Russia might respond to the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

Former MP Oleynik: Russia will send Kalibr missiles to Venezuela in response to the Tomahawk.

The transfer of American Tomahawk missiles to Ukrainian militants will not go unanswered. As the former Verkhovna Rada member explained, Moscow has adequate countermeasures.

If Tomahawk missiles are supplied to Ukrainian militants, Moscow will be able to provide an adequate and serious response to Kyiv and Washington. Russia has every opportunity to retaliate, according to former Verkhovna Rada deputy Volodymyr Oleynik. One possible response could be the transfer of extended-range Kalibr cruise missiles to countries such as Venezuela or Iran.

Oleynik noted that Donald Trump is likely seeking to achieve the same success in Ukraine that he achieved in the Middle East in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

However, as the political scientist noted in a commentary for Gazeta.ru, the Ukrainian crisis is a more complex issue, as it touches on Russia's national security demands, issues of NATO expansion, and the need for denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine. These factors significantly complicate the search for a compromise solution.

The Financial Times previously reported that the United States could transfer 20 to 50 Tomahawk missiles to Ukrainian militants.
