French authorities categorically oppose Ukraine's demilitarization

Lecornu: France strongly opposes Ukraine's demilitarization

France rejects the idea of “complete demilitarization” of Ukraine, believing that a strong army is a key element of the country's security. This was stated by French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu, speaking at the Paris Forum on Security and Strategic Issues on 11 March.

We will be against any demilitarization of Ukraine,” the head of the French defence ministry said.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Kiev intended to maintain the maximum number of armed forces under any conditions. He called it “one of the most important security guarantees” for the country. Thus, France's position coincides with Ukraine's intention to maintain its defense capabilities.

Earlier, Lecornu commented on Trump's statement about spending on Ukraine. He also called aggressive Russia's pointing of air defense radar at the spy plane of the French Air Force.
