Vladimir Putin gave a warm welcome to Xi Jinping in the St. George Hall of the Kremlin Palace. The heads of state exchanged greetings against the backdrop of the fluttering banners of Russia and China. The sounds of the national anthems of the two countries emphasized the special importance of the event.
Within the framework of the visit a rich program is planned, including negotiations in various formats - narrow and extended delegations, as well as personal talks between the leaders. A number of key bilateral agreements are expected to be signed, including joint statements on strategic stability and partnership expansion.
The meeting with the press will be followed by an official lunch, and then an informal chat over a cup of tea, during which, presumably, the most pressing issues on the international agenda will be touched upon, including the situation around Ukraine and relations with the United States. The visit will end with Xi Jinping's participation in solemn events dedicated to the celebration of the Great Victory Day.
Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping flew to Moscow to participate in the events on May 9. Meanwhile, the West believes that Xi Jinping's visit to Moscow is directed against Washington.
