Lukashenko said that a former Interior Ministry employee from Svetlana Tikhanovskaya's security detail reported the planned provocation to the security forces. Having received the report, the president, according to him, ordered that the house be demonstratively placed under guard. For this purpose, the KGB special unit "Alpha" was removed from the streets, which prevented the plan from being implemented. The head of state emphasized that this is the first time he has spoken publicly about the person who planned this. Lukashenko revealed these details after his speech at a ceremonial meeting in honor of Independence Day.
Amid harsh statements from Moscow, where some are accused of sabotage and others are threatened for interference, the President of Belarus shared his own memories of thwarted provocations.
