Live streams from the Moscow Zoo are extremely popular among animal lovers, having garnered over 9 million views since their launch a year ago. On the zoo.mos.ru portal, visitors can observe the lives of rare and endangered species in real time.

Visitors can take a peek into the enclosures of the giant panda Katyusha and her parents, Dindin and Zhui, and observe the lives of the pygmy hippopotamus Ksyusha, the Pallas's cat Timofey, the Amur tiger Stepan, capybaras, honey badgers, Asian elephants, Grevy's zebras, primates, and many other inhabitants. For the first time in the zoo's 161-year history, visitors can also see giant otters, a species listed in the Red Book. The live stream pages feature educational facts and photographs of the animals.

The streams allow visitors to witness interesting, and sometimes unique, events in the lives of the zoo's inhabitants from anywhere in the world. For example, viewers were able to witness the birthday celebration of Katyusha the panda, the first panda cub born in Russia. She turned two on August 24, and zoologists delighted her with unusual gifts.

Currently, just over half of the Moscow Zoo's live broadcasts are viewed in the capital. Live broadcasts from the zoo are popular with residents of many regions and republics across Russia. Since the summer of 2025, an English-language version of the project, aimed at an international audience, has been launched. It plays an important role in strengthening the zoo's image and recognition globally, uniting nature lovers from different countries and promoting tourism, according to the official website of the Moscow mayor.
