The network of routes served by electric buses is expanding in Moscow. Eight new lines have been added to the existing ones, with 46 modern domestically produced vehicles running on them. According to Moscow Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov, the increase in the number of environmentally friendly vehicles was made possible by the development of the route network and the creation of the necessary charging infrastructure.
The capital is actively working to expand its electric bus network. This year, environmentally friendly transport was launched for the first time on eight new routes connecting 18 city districts. Passengers are served by modern electric buses manufactured by Russian manufacturers such as KamAZ and LiAZ. Maxim Liksutov noted that the total number of electric bus routes has reached 248, which is more than 25% of all ground routes in the city.
Replacing one traditional bus with an electric bus reduces carbon dioxide emissions by more than 60 tons annually. Passenger comfort is ensured by smooth running, no noise, and no vibrations. The salons are equipped with ports for charging mobile devices, media screens with route information, folding ramps and driver call buttons for passengers with disabilities, as well as special areas for strollers and bicycles, according to the press service of the mayor and government of Moscow.
Ninety percent of Moscow's public transport runs on electricity.
