The incident happened around 2 a.m. local time at the Port Arthur LNG facility. According to Capt. Crystal Holmes of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, two of the victims were rescued from the top of the collapsed structure. Unfortunately, three of their coworkers died at the scene after falling from a great height.

Bechtel Group, the employer of the victims, has decided to temporarily suspend all work at the construction site, located approximately 137 kilometers east of Houston.

Sempra, which is headquartered in San Diego, said in an official statement that the injured workers have been hospitalized. A thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident involving regulators and local authorities is underway. Bechtel said it is fully cooperative in the investigation, Bloomberg reported.

Construction of the plant was started by Sempra in 2023, with the project scheduled for completion in 2027 or 2028. There is no information about the resumption of work at the site at this time. The incident was previously reported by local news agencies.

Earlier in the United States, an airplane passenger shocked passengers with her behavior.
