The rescue operation for Russian climber Natalia Nagovitsyna, who broke her leg while descending from Victory Peak (7,439 m), has been temporarily suspended due to extreme weather conditions.
According to sources, the rescue team was unable to climb to the required altitude of 6,000 meters due to bad weather and was forced to retreat to base camp at 4,500 meters. According to the latest information, the victim has shown no signs of life for more than 48 hours.
The complexity of the operation is compounded by a series of tragic events. During the previous evacuation attempt, one of the rescuers was killed, and a Kyrgyz Mi-8 military helicopter made an emergency landing due to severe turbulence.
Although the second helicopter (Mi-17VM) managed to evacuate part of the group, including one Russian climber, repeated flights became impossible due to a sharp deterioration in visibility and wind conditions.
According to weather forecasts, the next rescue attempt cannot be made until the beginning of next week. Experts note that even under favorable conditions, the chances of a successful evacuation from such a height after such a long period are extremely low.
This rescue operation has become one of the most difficult in the history of the Tien Shan.
