A single-engine airplane crashed in the Texas city of Plano, starting a fire

The aircraft (a Mooney M20 single-engine airplane) crashed Tuesday evening.

According to CBS News, the aircraft incident occurred in an area between the city of Plano Parkway, Texas, and Midway Road. The city's police department specified that the light-engine plane struck a parked close by Mama's Daughter's Diner, located on the west side of Plano, during the crash.

Authorities do not yet have official information on the number of casualties and injuries both aboard the plane and on the ground. The city's fire department quickly extinguished the fire, which broke out immediately after the aircraft went down.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) specified that the tragedy was recorded north of Air Park-Dallas Airport in Texas. Eyewitnesses reported the crash to emergency services around 6:00 p.m. MST. Nov. 21. Only the pilot was in the airplane at the time of the crash.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched a joint investigation.

Earlier, a U.S. Boeing P8 Poseidon reconnaissance plane missed the runway in Hawaii and hit the water.
