The Ministry of Internal Affairs has revealed details of a new fraudulent scheme targeting the elderly. Criminals operate according to a well-established script: first, they call pensioners posing as clinic receptionists. They convince them that they urgently need to update their medical records with information for retesting, and extract confidential information.

Having obtained the necessary information, the scammers move on to the second stage of their plan.

Soon, the victim receives another call – this time from fake law enforcement officers. They accuse the pensioner of financing banned organizations and, under the pretext of "security," demand that they transfer all their savings to a special account, ria.ru reports.

An 89-year-old woman has already been victimized by this scheme: criminals stole 80,000 rubles from her through a proxy who delivered a bag containing the money directly to her home.
