In the province of Girona (Catalonia), more than 50 people were injured because of the hail, which had a diameter of about 10 cm. It also became known about the death of a child caught in a downpour of hail.
A one and a half year old girl was taken to hospital after a piece of ice hit her head. However, doctors were unable to save her life.
Many of the victims needed stitches. The hail caused serious damage to the infrastructure.
