The incident with the disappearance of Sharron Pryor took place on March 29, 1975 in the suburbs of Montreal. The police found her body in the woods near the town of Longueuil three days after she had gone to a pizzeria together with a group of acquaintances. The body showed signs of sexual abuse.

In 2022, while analyzing crimes dating back to 1975, investigators came across the trail of recidivist gangster and rapist Franklin Maywood Romine. The criminal had crossed the U.S.-Canadian border several times as an American citizen before his death in 1982.

DNA analysis of the perpetrator's remains and a description of his appearance by a single witness to the crime left police in no doubt that Romine was the rapist.

Prosecutor Mark Sorsaya described the atrocity as a combination of true evil and innocence.
