A stroke, which can cause serious consequences, even death, is preventable, according to Russian Ministry of Health Professor Valery Arakelyan.
In an interview with Life.ru, he clarified that the most important thing for patients with atrial fibrillation, which often causes blood clots, to remember is that they need lifelong anticoagulant therapy.
"These medications reduce the risk of stroke by 60-70%. It's also important to control blood sugar and "bad" cholesterol levels, especially in people at high risk," Arakelyan added.
Furthermore, to prevent stroke, people over 40-45 years of age should undergo regular checkups, including blood pressure monitoring, glucose testing, and lipid testing.
Previously, scientists identified habits that all stroke survivors share.
