Psychiatrist Petr Lacples discussed the potential consequences of voluntary hospitalization in a psychiatric hospital. This new trend, gaining popularity among Zoomers, is called "durking." Young people are checking themselves into a hospital to give their soul a break.

In a conversation with NewsNN, Petr Lacples explained that any hospitalization in a state medical facility is possible with a referral from a local doctor. Therefore, admission to a psychiatric hospital requires a specific indication. These include acute psychotic states or exacerbations of chronic psychoses. Private clinics may be an exception.

You can also be admitted to a state clinic if the patient is brought to the hospital by ambulance.

However, Lacples explained that once admitted to the hospital, leaving voluntarily is impossible.

"There is no minimum hospitalization period. Nor, for that matter, is there a maximum." If the treating physician believes the patient's condition is still unstable, but the patient insists on discharge, they may be kept in the clinic by court order," Latsples explained.

After discharge, the patient will be registered. This could lead to the patient being denied a license, a gun, or employment.

Previously, psychiatrists reported an atypical reaction to alcohol withdrawal.
