According to Deputy Director for the scientific work of the Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Alexander Gorelov, on the air TV channel "Doctor", the new subspecies of the Delta strain of Coronavirus AY.4.2 has high contagiousness.
The specialist informs that one infected with such a virus can infect up to nine people.
Recently, the first cases of Ay.4.2 infection were recorded in the Russian Federation. According to experts, it is 10-15% contagious than the initial delta strain and its symptoms appear faster.
