Thanks to high-tech procedures, doctors were able to identify and eliminate complications before the baby was born. First, the specialists diagnosed the fetus with diaphragmatic hernia, in which the abdominal organs are displaced into the chest, preventing the proper development of the lungs and heart.
In addition, doctors noticed a serious complication: fluid accumulated in the heart lining, causing delayed development of the organ. Using special techniques, cardiologists performed surgery, removing the excess fluid and alleviating the condition of the fetus. This allowed the pregnancy to last an extra month.
The baby was born healthy, its weight was 2.5 kg, and the heart and other organs developed normally. After delivery, surgeons had to remove a diaphragmatic hernia, which was also successful, RIA Novosti reported.
Less than a month later, the girl was able to go home healthy and full.
Earlier, a department for organ and tissue transplantation was opened in Moscow hospital No. 52.
